About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and technically proficient Structural Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team. In this mid-level role, you will take ownership of design tasks for a variety of projects, ranging from [mention specific project types, e.g., commercial high-rises, industrial facilities, residential complexes, or bridges].

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of hands-on experience in structural analysis and design, is proficient with industry-standard software, and is ready to bridge the gap between junior staff and senior project managers. You will play a critical role in ensuring our projects are safe, sustainable, cost-effective, and compliant with all relevant codes.

Key Responsibilities

1. Structural Analysis & Design

• Perform detailed structural analysis and design for steel, concrete, masonry, and timber structures using governing building codes (e.g., IBC, ACI, AISC, ASCE 7).
• Calculate loads (dead, live, wind, seismic, snow) and verify structural integrity across various design phases.
• Produce accurate design calculations, technical reports, and specifications for review by Senior Engineers.

2. Project Coordination & Documentation

• Develop and manage structural drawings and models using Revit and AutoCAD.
• Collaborate closely with architects, MEP engineers, and contractors to resolve design conflicts (clash detection) and ensure seamless system integration.
• Review shop drawings, RFIs (Requests for Information), and material submittals during the construction administration phase.

3. Site & Field Work

• Conduct site visits to verify compliance with construction documents and assess existing structural conditions.
• Troubleshoot on-site construction issues and provide timely engineering solutions to field teams.

4. Mentorship & Growth

• Assist in mentoring junior engineers and interns by reviewing their minor calculations and drawings.
• Manage small-to-medium-sized projects or specific portions of larger projects with minimal supervision.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Licensure:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Required). Master’s Degree is a plus.

Technical Experience:

• 3–5 years of progressive experience in structural engineering design.
• Strong working knowledge of building codes and standards.
• Experience with different structural systems (e.g., shallow/deep foundations, retaining walls, lateral force-resisting systems).

Software Proficiency:

• Modeling/Drafting: Proficiency in Revit (BIM) and AutoCAD is essential.
• Analysis: Proficiency in at least one major analysis suite such as ETABS, SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, RISA-3D, or RAM Structural System.
• Tools: Experience with Bluebeam Revu, MathCAD, and Microsoft Excel.

Soft Skills:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client-facing interactions.
• Ability to manage time effectively across multiple active projects.

Preferred (Bonus) Skills

• Experience with Post-Tensioned Concrete or Pre-engineered Metal Buildings (PEMB).
• Knowledge of sustainable design practices or LEED accreditation.
• Experience in forensic engineering or structural retrofitting of existing buildings.
